ASHLEE UNIE
Ash is our fabulous co-lead physiotherapist with a passion for snowsports injury rehabilitation, knee injuries, and active recovery. Her commitment to elite sports care was recently highlighted through her work with the Australian Snowboard Cross Team, travelling through Switzerland, Italy, and Austria during the 2025 World Cup season.
Having overcome her own ACL and meniscal injury as a professional athlete, Ash understands both the physical and mental challenges of recovery. She has worked in leading sports physiotherapy clinics across Australia and Ireland, including a knee-injury-specific practice, and is currently completing her Master’s in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy.
At Peak Sports Physio Hakuba, Ash combines evidence-based treatment, hands-on techniques, and individualised rehabilitation programs to help skiers, snowboarders, and active visitors recover quickly and safely. She is also available for Sports Massage consultation.
callum smith
Callum returns to Hakuba for another season as the co-lead physiotherapist at Peak Sports Physio Hakuba, bringing a wealth of experience in snowsports injury rehabilitation and elite sports physiotherapy from top clinics in Australia and Ireland.
He has provided high-quality care to hundreds of locals and tourists, from recreational skiers to professional competitors, and understands the unique demands of mountain sports. Callum is also highly experienced in working with travel insurers and navigating the Japanese healthcare system, ensuring smooth, stress-free care for visitors and residents alike.
Trained in Acupuncture, Dry Needling, and a range of sports and deep tissue massage techniques, Callum uses a holistic and hands-on approach to restore mobility, strength, and performance. His goal is simple — to help every client recover fully, return to the slopes confidently, and stay injury-free all season long.
Tom carty
Tom brings a diverse background in acute injury management from his work in Emergency Departments and hospital wards across Australia and the UK. These early experiences built his expertise in assessing and treating a wide range of injuries, from fractures to complex soft tissue conditions.
More recently, Tom has worked in a leading sports physiotherapy clinic in Brisbane and served as the lead physiotherapist for an elite female rugby team, refining his skills in sports rehabilitation and performance optimisation.
A lifelong skier and sports enthusiast, Tom has a deep understanding of the demands of skiing and snowboarding, and specialises in helping athletes return safely to the mountain after injury. At Peak Sports Physio Hakuba, Tom also provide Sports Massage consultations and Dry Needling to keep people fresh and firing for more big days on the mountain.
Bobby wong
Bobby is a highly skilled physiotherapist trained in the United Kingdom, with expertise in hand therapy, hip and knee injuries, and ACL rehabilitation. He has extensive experience working with professional rugby clubs and elite athletes, managing acute sports injuries and supporting long-term recovery and performance goals.
Having completed advanced training in complex knee injuries and holding a Sports Massage Therapy diploma, Bobby blends precise clinical knowledge with a hands-on, patient-centred approach.
An avid surfer, snowboarder, and MMA enthusiast, Bobby understands the needs of high-performing athletes and weekend adventurers alike. At Peak Sports Physio Hakuba, he helps clients recover from snowsports injuries, restore strength and mobility, and return to their sport safely. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, Bobby offers multilingual consultations and will return to Hong Kong Sports Clinic after his time in Hakuba.
Jaimi barton
Jaimi is a talented massage therapist with a Physiotherapy degree, combining technical skill with a deep understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. She is trained in deep-tissue, sports, and relaxation massage, as well as trigger point therapy and joint mobilisation techniques.
At Peak Sports Physio Hakuba, Jaimi provides tailored massage treatments to relieve tension, improve mobility, and accelerate recovery for skiers, snowboarders, and active visitors. Her sessions are designed to leave clients feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for more time on the mountain.
Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Jaimi grew up surfing, hiking, and playing netball, and has since developed a love for snowboarding and the unique rhythm of life in Hakuba. She brings warmth, energy, and a genuine passion for helping others feel their best — both on and off the slopes.
